Enabling AirPlay on Mac: 15 Tips to Use the Tool, Works Perfect

AirPlay Not Working on Mac/MacBook, Try These Easy Steps by Using the Tools.

The AirPlay is a versatile Apple technology that enables users to share their music, photos, videos, and more between different devices.

With AirPlay, MacBook users can extend their entertainment experience with the convenience of streaming content wirelessly from their computer to other compatible Apple devices and even learn how to move files on Mac to a different peripheral, so long as the two are compatible.

Make sure your device is compatible

AirPlay works with many Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, Macs, HomePods, and Apple TVs. Check the compatibility list before you start using the feature.

Connect your iPhone or iPad with AirPlay

In order to use AirPlay on your MacBook you will need to connect an iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi by enabling Bluetooth on both. If you’re having trouble connecting over Wi-Fi, try restarting the devices and then try again.

Choose which content you want to stream

Once connected you can select the streaming preferences from your MacBook such as movies, music, photos, and more.

Select an output device

After selecting the type of streamable media, choose an output device (an Apple TV or HomePod) so that the content can be sent over AirPlay.

Control audio settings

Manage audio settings such as volume level and playback speed when sending audio files over AirPlay from your MacBook.

Troubleshoot connection error

If there’s a disruption in the connection between two AirPlay-enabled devices (e.g., if one goes offline), make sure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network before troubleshooting further.

Set up multiple rooms for multiroom playback

Now you can playback audio from multiple Apple devices concurrently – a Macbook in the living room and an Apple TV in the bedroom, for example.

All you have to do is enable multiroom playback through System Preferences > Sound > Output tab by selecting “Multiroom Playback” as your output device. Make listening easy with this convenient feature.

Enable the Do Not Disturb mode

When playing videos or music on your MacBook through AirPlay, consider turning on the DnD mode so that notifications don’t interrupt playback during watching or listening sessions.

You can enable this toggle in the System Preferences > Notifications > Do Not Disturb tab.

Optimize Bitrate settings

To ensure optimal streaming quality, go into System Preferences > Network tab and change the bitrate quality setting; it should default to Automatic, but if not, choose either Low or High depending on how much bandwidth is available.

Use screen mirroring

For even bigger screens, try using screen mirroring with AirPlay, which allows users to project their display onto any compatible device, like an HDTV, with just a few clicks.

To use this feature, first, turn on mirroring by going into Displays located in the System Preferences > Displays tab and then clicking the “Mirror Displays” option near the bottom right corner of the window.

Stream games wirelessly

With some games that support wireless streaming, gamers can now stream straight from their MacBook while gaining improved response times since they no longer have cables connected between the laptop and an external screen or console system.

This provides gamers with greater flexibility when playing intense gaming sessions without being constrained by cords or limited angles due to the laptop’s weighty size when placed on flat surfaces like tables during long hours of playtime.

Transfer files wirelessly

One of the best things about Airplay is its ability for users who prefer to stream content directly from their Macbook to other compatible devices instead of using cables or external hard drives.

The feature makes it easy to transfer files between the two devices without having to rely on bulky cords or worrying about speed issues that come with long-distance cables.

Stream photos

AirPlay can also be used as a way of streaming photos from one device to another, like an iPad photo album over to a Macbook screen, for instance.

To do this, first, open the Photos app located in your Applications folder and select “Share,” then choose “AirPlay,” followed by selecting the device you want to transfer images to (e.g., Apple TV).

Connect multiple devices at once

Airplay also allows users to connect various compatible Apple devices simultaneously—this is especially useful when having more extensive or extended viewing or listening sessions with friends and family.

You need to select multiple devices in the Airplay menu after selecting the “Multiroom” option located at the bottom of the screen while in System Preferences > Sound.

Use third-party apps

There are many third-party applications available that allow you to customize your experience even further with AirPlay, such as using a custom layout for streaming music, photos, and videos on different devices simultaneously. Examples include AirFoil and TuneBlade for Macbooks.
