Razer has released two models with 240Hz/QHD resolution as winter 2021 models, including the 15-inch “Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model” gaming notebook PC. Last time, I reviewed the top model Core i9-11900H / 32 GB Memory / 1 TB SSD / RTX3080 / 4K OLED, but it’s an outstanding machine for content creators in terms of display specs. This new configuration model is a machine that runs the PC gaming highway by incorporating a discrete GPU “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/3080” for notebook PCs with a high definition display called QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). Let’s discuss the following Laptop Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model QHD Reviews.
The lineup consists of 8 models that let you choose your own favorite laptop machine
The 2021 Razer Blade 15 follow-up model currently has a lineup of eight models with different displays, discrete GPUs, CPUs, memory and storage.
There are two types of QHD models this time.
- QHD 240Hz / RTX 3070 / Core i7-11800H / 16 GB / 1 TB / USD 3,301 (with Windows 11)
- QHD 240Hz / RTX 3080 / Core i7-11800H / 32 GB / 1 TB / USD 4,284 (with Windows 11)
Three models equipped with QHD are sold as models in the summer of 2021.
- QHD 240Hz / RTX 3060 / Core i7-11800H / 16 GB / 1 TB / USD 2,780 (thickness 15.8 mm- the thinnest)
- QHD 165Hz / RTX 3070 / Core i7-11800H / 16 GB / 1 TB / USD 3,215
- QHD 165Hz / RTX 3080 / Core i7-11800H / 32 GB / 1 TB / USD 3,650
FHD with two models.
- FHD 360Hz / RTX 3070 / Core i7-11800H / 16 GB / 1 TB / USD 3,300
- FHD 360Hz / RTX 3080 / Core i7-11800H / 32 GB / 1 TB / USD 4,283
And this is the top model:
- 4K OLED / RTX 3080 / Core i9-11900H / 32 GB / 1 TB / USD 4,161
The proper screen size is 15.6 inches. Refresh rates are 360Hz for FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels, 2ms, sRGB 100%), 165Hz and 240Hz for QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels), 4K OLED (3840 x 2160 pixels), 4K OLED (3840 x 2160 pixels, 1ms, DCI-P3 100%, touch compatible) available at 60Hz.
Memory can be expanded up to 64 GB for all models. Storage can be expanded up to 4 TB using the second slot (PCIE Gen4 x4) for models other than RTX 3060.
The other specifications are basically the same. The interface features Thunderbolt 4 x 2, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A x 3, HDMI 2.1 x 1, SD (UHS-III) memory card slot x 1, 3.5 mm x 1 combo jack, Kensington lock slot x 1. Wireless communication supports Wi-Fi 6E (11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2. The biometric authentication system is a facial recognition camera (IR camera).
The main body measures 355 x 235 x 16.99 mm (the height of the RTX 3060 is 15.8 mm), and the weight is from 1.99 to 2.08 kg. It has a built-in 80Wh lithium-ion polymer battery and is claimed to have a maximum battery life of 7 hours.
The model we tested this time had “Windows 11 Home 64-bit” pre-installed. The current model comes with Windows 10, but can be upgraded to Windows 11.
Razer-marked keyboard, compatible with the highest-end “G-SYNC” and smooth gaming graphics.
This keyboard is very high quality because it is a notebook PC made by Razer which is also a keyboard maker. The actual key pitch measures about 19 mm, and the keystroke actually measures around 1.5 mm, which is average for a notebook PC, but the rigidity of the body is firmly secured. The sound of the buttons when pressed is also low unless the press is very strong.
Effectively making use of 15.6 inches of body space, all character keys are arranged in the same width, so you can reach any key naturally. This is the perfect keyboard for long text input as well as for gaming.
The touchpad also has an area of 130 x 80 mm, making it easy to operate gestures. In addition, the high-precision glass has a smooth and low finger slip and has a light click feeling. Of course, if you want to play games, you should have a decent gaming mouse, but for general business and personal use, this touchpad should suffice.
The detailed specifications of the 15.6-inch display with a refresh rate of 240Hz and QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) are not listed on the official website of this product, but are actually measured by the “i1 Display Pro” color calibration tool and the “Color AC” diagramming software chromaticity. However, I can confirm the color gamut with 100% sRGB coverage. It has an above average color gamut for a high refresh rate display.
This display is “NVIDIA G-SYNC” compatible and reduces tearing, stuttering, and input delays. Not only is it fast in terms of specifications, but it also guarantees that it will feel smooth when you actually play the game.
High scores comparable to the Core i9-11900H / RTX3080 models!
Let’s check the performance with Core i7-11800H + RTX 3080 / 32 GB / 1 TB. First, regarding CPU performance, “CINEBENCH R23” recorded 12056pts, “CINEBENCH R20” recorded 4725pts, and “CINEBENCH R15” recorded 2075cb.
Since the previous Core i9-11900H / RTX3080 models were 12321pts, 4783pts, 2033cb, CPU benchmark scores are all about error differences. This time it’s Windows 11, but maybe the engine has been optimized and the performance of the entire series has improved.
Regarding 3D graphics performance, Time Spy from “3DMark” recorded 10473, Fire Strike recorded 22587, and Port Royal recorded 6365.
The Core i9-11900H/RTX3080 models are 9882 for Time Spy, 20420 for Fire Strike, and 6260 for Port Royal, so the results are slightly higher than Core i7-11800H/RTX3080 equipped machines. Again, thanks to Windows 11, there’s a chance that performance will improve due to graphics driver updates.
Regarding storage speed, the sequential read (SEQ1M Q8T1) of “CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4” is 6926 MB/s, and the sequential write (SEQ1M Q8T1) is 4987 MB/s. Both models are equipped with SSDs with PCIe Gen4 x4 connections, so the scores are almost side by side.
Regarding battery driving time, when “PCMark 10 Modern Office Battery Life” is run at 40% screen brightness, it is capable of operating for 3 hours 20 minutes.
Since the Core i9-11900H/RTX3080 model ran on the “BBench” battery benchmark for 5 hours and 58 minutes, it seems likely that a Core i7-11800H/RTX3080 equipped machine will achieve the same battery life under the same conditions.
High-frequency and high-speed images are perfect for games QHD resolution, practically enough for creativity
As noted above, the Razer Blade 15 follow-up model has eight models in the lineup. It is very difficult to decide which model to buy. However, memory and storage can be replaced and expanded with relative ease, so you should prioritize the display, separate GPU, and CPU.
Conclusion
The high refresh rate of the 240Hz QHD model is certainly perfect for high-speed gaming, and the QHD’s high resolution is practically sufficient for creative applications, making it a very balanced model. If you want to use it for multiple purposes, this is the perfect high-performance notebook PC.
