Samsung Galaxy Core 2 (SM-G355H), Improved Operating System Version, KitKat

In order to maintain possession in all segments, Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Core 2 for the middle class. Galaxy Core 2, a development of previous versions, comes with KitKat Operating System. Seemingly Galaxy Core 2 will have tight competitors offering a cheaper price in the market even though Galaxy Core 2 is expected as a cheap mobile phone. Well, here is the review.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 is still made ​​of plastic added metal at the edges and shaped box with a small arch at each corner. At the top, there’s only 3.5 mm audio port while the end/power key is located on the right side and the volume keys are on the left side. A micro USB port is also provided for data transfer and charging at the bottom.

At the front, the secondary camera is located on the right top with the words ‘Duos’ underneath and there’s a physical menu button between back button and active application on the bottom of the front.

At the back, cover has a rough surface so it’s not slippery when placed or touched. The primary camera is located on the top center between LED flash at left and speaker at right side.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 offers a screen size that is not exactly small but not too large. Using Knock Code technology, it’s also provided a density up to 234 pixels per inches. By Knock Code feature, the user can turn the screen off simply by tapping with a finger. For security, users also can save four to eight combinations of certain tapping. It has a good performance for reading text in the sun, wide view angle, good contras and fresh colors.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system is ready to present a powerful performance to support the activities of users who have a lot of demands. Log in to the front page and than you will be greeted 4 homescreen panels.

You’ll only find categories in the menu display without widgets or wallpaper applications. You can find them with pressing and holding the screen. At the upper right corner of menu display there’s also an additional menu such as add pages and hide the application.

Hardware and Benchmark

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 has 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Processor, 768MB RAM and uses 400 mali to support GPU. It also has 4GB internal memory which can expand to 64GB with microSD card and 2.000mAh Battery.

This Smartphone uses 2 benchmark applications_Antutu and Quadrant which have result of hardware test. Samsung galaxy Core 2 Antutu got 15.313 which is good but only 3.800 for Quadrant score.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 has enough connectivity options for Competing in the middle class. To connect to the internet users can use mobile data or WiFi in the hotspot area. This smartphone is a dual SIM phone which has same connection capabilities.

For browsing, Samsung Galaxy Core 2 has android browser and chrome. When browsing, it feels soft and smooth opening web pages and Youtube are great and you can also view a map with GPS.

Camera and Video

Primary Camera: 5 MP (2560 x 1920 pixels), Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, panorama, HDR, Autofocus, LED Flash, Video Record; Secondary Camera: 0.3 MP

With a 5 megapixels primary camera, the image was still not enough for you who like photography. Result taking pictures in indoor at noon with a lamp lighting the room got the results which are not very good when shooting objects within close enough. Flash LED is not available for the proper focus. In outdoor, Samsung Galaxy Core 2 can produce quite clear image even though color sharpness isn’t really good. The picture’s location info you take can be detected when GPS is on.

But you can still do with setting provided. It’s available for automatic mode, best photo, panorama, sports and night. For you who like a socialite or selfie, the secondary camera only 0.3 megapixels can not expect much.

For entertainment, Samsung GalaxyCore 2 is quite complete with an audio player, video player and FM radio. FM radio offers RDS and recording sound. To optimize sound when playing audio player, this smartphone provides equalizer settings that can make 3D effects. If you need more application You can install others in the Play Store.

Other Features

Edit Image, Chat On,

Chat On is available features for communication. Image can be edited directly on the phone with a variety of features such as rotate, crop, effect, portrait, stickers, pictures and frames. Actually, It’s still available application to show live wallpaper but the application is stopped when trying to open it.
