The Lenovo IdeaPad Z475 Review. This product attempts to appeal to its loyal users by relying on AMD Fusion platform upscale. It must be recognized, a line of notebooks based on Intel dominate the market. However, that does not mean AMD-based notebooks. One example shown at the Lenovo IdeaPad Z475. This product is an example of notebooks powered Fusion processor with high-specification class mobile.
AMD recently indeed has updated their Fusion line of mobile processors for the series A4, A6, and A8 which also carries the Radeon HD 6000G graphics chip. In IdeaPad Z475 that we tried (model 59317452) embedded Fusion A8-3500m (Llano code) running on a standard clock of 1.5 GHz. However, this clock can be “up” automatically with Turbo Core up to 2.4 GHz.
CPUs in the Sabine platform is relatively potential for having 4 cores with 4 MB L2 cache total. However, the presence of quad-core does not necessarily make it wasteful power chip designed for AMD A8-3500m with a TDP of only 35 watts energy are fairly efficient.
In accordance with its capacity as a laptop personal multimedia experience, the IdeaPad Z475 is designed with attractive glossy transparent cover casting motif with 3D effects. Unfortunately, this glossy cover seen easily dirty on the surface. Fortunately, the inner layer is made in a matte color that does not cause scars on the surface, so it looks always clean.
To support multimedia factor, the notebook is equipped with SRS Premium Sound audio system so that sound more realistic present. The product also relies on Radeon 6520HD graphics chip with 400 MHz clock to get the powerful 3D graphics though.
In terms of connectivity, the IdeaPad Z475 unfortunately does not provide USB 3.0 connection that is now getting popular. Instead, there is one available eSATA port. To provide better protection, Lenovo VeriFace feature also present. But we assume that the function is somewhat rarely used.
Despite carrying 4 cores CPU package, IdeaPad Z475 performance does not look ferocious, although enchanting in terms of design and usability. This multimedia notebook is perfect for consumers who need an affordable entertainment laptop.
Test Results
Based on the comparison of performance with the Intel Core i3-2310M on Fujitsu BH531, it appears that the ability of AMD A6-3500m can not compare to it for daily activities. Intel is still more powerful here. However, AMD should be proud because its onboard graphics chip to perform better with more efficient power consumption.
